RER is a low-cost program that can be replicated in
any community where residents are interested in working to eliminate racism and promote literacy.
Steps for Replicating RER:
1. Contact an RER consultant to help you with developing your plan.
2. Involve 2 or more community members.
3. Hold a meeting with an interested school principal.
4. Meet with school faculty to describe the program & obtain suport.
5. Cotract with an RER consultant to conduct an initial training for new readers and organizing council.
6. Conduct your first RER Event!
7. Organizers and Consultant debrief and discuss future RER Events.
RER Training Objectives:
Learn to become RER Readers
Learn how to talk with your children about racism
Learn how to support the Organizing Council
Organizing Council members will also learn how to:
Develop and maintain an RER Organizing Council
Develop an RER Library
Plan and implement a RER Events
Program Development Fee:
The cost of bringing an RER Consultant to your community to help you develop an RER Program is $1,000 plus expenses.
This fee covers meeting with a school principal (and Organizing Council members), an eight-hour RER Training, all training materials, and at least one RER Event debriefing.
This fee will be in effect until after the next four communities sign on as RER Programs.
After that, the fee will be $2,000 plus expenses.
Fee may be negotiable under certain circumstances.
